Paint Corrections
Swirl marks and dull paintwork aren’t dirt — they’re damage in the clear coat, and no amount of washing will shift them. Correction physically levels them out.
What a correction involves.
- Full decontamination wash before any machine work
- Iron fallout and tar removal
- Paintwork clayed to a smooth finish
- Paint depth checked before correction begins
- Test panel completed to confirm the right combination
- Machine polishing with appropriate pads and compounds
- Defects levelled rather than filled
- Panels wiped down to verify true results
- Protective sealant applied on completion
Filling isn’t fixing.
A lot of cheap ‘polishes’ are glazes — they fill defects with oils that wash out within a few weeks, and the swirls reappear exactly as they were. Machine correction removes a controlled amount of clear coat so the defect is genuinely gone. That’s why the results last and why it takes hours rather than minutes.
It’s also why we measure paint depth before starting. Your clear coat is finite, and a detailer who doesn’t check is guessing with something that can’t be undone. If a panel has been resprayed or is running thin, we’ll tell you and adjust the approach rather than push on.
How we work.
Decontaminate fully
Wash, iron removal and clay — machine work on contaminated paint causes damage.
Measure & test
Paint depth readings, then a test panel to confirm the right pad and compound.
Correct
Section by section, checking results under proper lighting as we go.
Protect & inspect
Sealant applied, then we walk the car with you under the light.
Good to know.
Not always. If a scratch catches your fingernail it’s through the clear coat, and correction can improve it but not erase it. We’ll be straight with you about what’s realistically achievable before we start.
In the right hands, yes. We measure paint depth first, test on a small area, and remove only what’s needed. The risk comes from inexperienced operators working blind.
It depends on your paint’s condition, not your budget. Send photos and we’ll give you an honest recommendation — sometimes that means talking you down to the cheaper option.
The defects are gone permanently. How long the finish stays that way depends on how the car is washed afterwards — which is why we usually recommend pairing correction with a ceramic coating.
Yes, this is fully mobile. We do need reasonable shelter and lighting, so a garage or covered space is ideal for correction work. Tell us what you’ve got and we’ll advise.
Paint looking tired?
Send a couple of photos and your county. We’ll come back with an honest recommendation and a firm price, usually within the hour.
